I've always adored fashion pearl jewelry, for a variety of reasons. Fashion jewelry is usually more affordable than their genuine counterparts. Spending less money on what usually could cost a lot just makes sense to me. Like many of you out there, I'm a wife and mother. That means I roll on a budget!

You may be all about real pearls. Faux, synthetic, fake, and glass may not even be words in your vocabulary. I get that. It's okay. I once thought myself that I'd never own anything but the real thing.

One of the loveliest pieces of feminine jewelry is a costume pearl necklace. We all may aspire to own a genuine strand of pearls, but why wait when you can find an extremely fashion-forward, affordable pearl costume necklace. This allows you to try out not only the classic, white pearled beauty, but to experiment with different pearl colors and pearl sizes. Then, when you've saved up your money, and can buy your own genuine pearl necklace (that is, if you still want to). You'll feel confident that you've made the right choice.

I have a confession to make. I love simulated pearls. Love, love, love 'em! Not all simulated pearls are created equal, however. For that reason, I won't say that I love them all. I do, however, have a great affection for a simulated pearl necklace which looks and feels like the real thing.

It would be great if we could all afford genuine pearls, but in all honesty, we can't. By "genuine," I mean cultured pearls. That's what you will find almost exclusively in jewelry stores. Natural pearls, created in nature without the assistance of human intervention, are rarely available. They are more commonly found in the possession of collectors or at estate sales.
